Thanks for your interest in the story behind Breastfeeding Quest website! I can't wait to share with you as much as I can.

Off to how Breastfeeding Quest became what it is today...

As I mentioned previously, birth of my son put everything in my life into a different perspective.

Priorities were re-evaluated and shifted quite a bit. From now on I was a stay-at-home mom enjoying and cherishing every single moment spent with my baby.

My husband was the sole provider for the family, my son was growing and I knew decisions would have to be made in a few years.

So I started looking around. I looked for an opportunity to contribute to the family income. I looked and looked, but I could find nothing fitting my situation and my passion. I wanted to (listed in order of importance):

Spend as much time as I could with my son
Love what I do
Help others and share knowledge
Own a business
Not invest much
Work part-time
Have flexible hours

Turned out it was a bit too much to ask for.

A Lamb In A Box

There is one book that I absolutely love reading and re-reading. It is called “Little Prince”. It was written by the French writer, poet, aristocrat and an aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It may seem like it is for children, but it is actually devoted to us – the grown-ups. Its simplicity and beauty still amazes me.

There is a scene in it when the author’s plane crashes in a dessert and this little tiny boy emerges from nowhere and asks the pilot to draw him a lamb. A lamb!? In desperation and trying to get rid of the boy to start fixing his plane, the author produces several drawings of a lamb.

Nothing is good for the boy: one is too old, the other one has horns. Finally, the author gets so frustrated that he draws a box, resolutely hands it over to the boy and tells him that it was the last version of the lamb…well, not the lamb, but the box that may have a lamb inside.

How amazed and surprised was the pilot, when he saw light in the boy’s eyes and smile on his face:

This is exactly what I wanted! This way my lamb can hide in the box. Oh, look, it just went to sleep!...

The grown-up thought: What a pity, I can’t see a lamb in an empty box any longer! I guess I am getting old…

Are we all? When we are kids we dream of growing up to become who we want to be. When we grow up we dream of being kids for who we used to be: free, joyful and open-minded.
